Butterhead lettuces have a unique taste and texture that is often described as "buttery" and velvety. They have small, loosely formed heads and are more tolerant of heat compared to other lettuce types. However, it is still recommended to plant them early or late in the season to avoid the intense summer sun. If planting in the summer, partial shade or an eastward-facing location may be helpful. Butterheads typically take around 55-60 days to mature, and their leaves can be harvested throughout the growing cycle. When planting, make sure to space them 10-12" apart with 12" between rows.
