The Mary Washington Asparagus is a live plant that can be grown as a hardy vegetable for 2-3 years. Asparagus officinalis, a perennial, non-GMO, and open-pollinated variety, is fairly easy to cultivate in various climates from zone three to nine. This traditional asparagus consists of both male and female stalks and is resistant to rust fungi that can damage other asparagus varieties. Patience is necessary since it takes two to three years for the plant to produce high-quality spears in your garden.
